China's Total Trade Volume in Imports and Exports Accounted for 7.7% and Ranked the Third of the World

According to the report released by the National Bureau of Statistics on October 27, the total foreign trade volume of China rose from the 29th in 1978 to the 3rd in 2007, and the proportion in the total world trade also enhanced from 0.8% to 7.7%.

The report points out that before the reform and opening up, China is basically closed or semi-closed with a smaller foreign trade scale; in 1978, the total volume in imports and exports was only over USD20b, nearly with a gap in utilizing foreign capital. After the reform and opening up of 30 years, Chinese economy has been gradually opening up, and the international status and influence of Chinese economy have been unprecedentedly enhanced from weak to strong in the 30 years.
